It’s a tribal chant synonymous with passionate league supporters north of the Tweed.

It’s a word that will inspire the mighty Maroon woman’s State of Origin team this year when they tackle the Blues:

QueenslandHer!

Seasoned performer Rebecca Frith was more than ready to lead the call as part of the Queensland Goverement’s greater Health and Wellbeing initiative.

The local voice actor was cast by the creative guns at BCM – another decorated team with a healthy understanding of all things Queensland!

TALENT: Walter Williams

With Anzac Day coming up on April 25 Walter Williams reflects on one his proudest Voice Over projects of 2020, when he was asked by RSL Queensland to be the “Voice of God” (as it’s known in the business for live announcements) to commorate the 75th Anniversary of VP Day.

A five and a half minute short animation was projected onto Brisbane City Hall, in Adelaide Street.

Thousands of locals and tourists gathered in the cold of a Brisbane Winter in King George Square rugged up to watch the screening every night from Monday, August 10 to Friday, 14th from 6pm till 8pm every five minutes.

The presentation included a roll of honour for our World War 2 Veterans, plus archive footage and audio from the era.

It was quite a moving event.

As William Faulkner, wrote in “Requiem for a Nun”, “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”

Walter’s narration was recorded in his own Broadcast Quality Studio on a Neumann TLM 49 microphone with a digital signal chain of Solid State Logic 2 Plus audio Interface using 4K, Mogami Gold Cables, TwistedWave DAW and edited on iMac27, through Fostex Monitors. That’s tech-talk for great recording gear.

The final mix and post production was handled by NW Groups’ Spyglass who’ve been helping create unforgettable events around the world for as long as Walter has been talking to himself in padded booths.

TALENT: Michael Goldman

BrisVO original, Michael Goldman was recently thrown a drop-everyting-instant-voiceover challenge. Unfortunately for him, he was on a Citycat cruising into Brisbane at the time. Lucky he’s a man that thrives under pressure. How do you think he did?

If you reckon he’s the voice for your next gig, get in contact. He’s got his own studio you know, or he could use yours. He definitely wont need to dial in from a boat.

Versatile Brisbane actor, Hugh Parker has been having fun lately. The prodigious homegrown talent has been plying his trade in the movies, on the stage and on the web!

Local Queensland video production company, Hired Goons appreciate his gifts. They recently entrusted Hugh’s subtle skills to ham it up for a little self-promotion piece they produced.

Earlier in the year Hugh took part in a Queensland Theatre Play Club Zoom reading – where he played Roland Henning in Toy Symphony by Michael Gow.

And more recently, he’s been filming scenes on the new Elvis movie due to wrap on the Gold Coast later this month.

Hugh has quite the repertoire.

To demonstrate Hugh’s versatility, have a listen to his read below for “Come Home to Kirra” (below). It’s certainly a change of pace.

PRODUCTION: Self produced

Veteran of the stage and screen. Accomplished voice actor. Talented singer songwriter. Robert Coleby is your classic triple threat.

While the theatre waits in the wings for its aniticipated grand entrance, Rob’s been keeping himself creatively active in his home studio with his collection of guitars, ipad simulated keyboard, harp, and Garageband. He’s recorded enough tracks for an album, including this original composition: Going Down.

In other news, Robert and fellow BrisVO alumni, Kate Wilson, had some fun early in the year recording ‘Do Us Part’ by Krissy Kneen for the Red Light section of the Brisbane Festival produced by Tara Hobbs. Guy Webster was the recording engineer at Hunting Ground Studios trying to keep a straight face while they got down to some R-rated business, in character of course, as Delores and Ivan.

We can only imagine.
