No nonsense, assertive and straight down to business. Tom really beasted it up.

TALENT: Leon Murray

PRODUCTION: Growth Ops

Leon Murray was proud to lend his friendly voice to Queensland Health’s latest statewide COVID vaccination campaign, recorded under socially distanced conditions at Brisbane’s GrowthOps studios and engineered by Dave Gaylard.

This radio spot was paired with a multi-stranded TVC & Online campaign which rolled out across all of Queensland in October 2021 – we like to think it may have helped get Queensland across that 80% vaccinated line

TALENT: Ross Newth

PRODUCTION: Josh Newth, Freelance Audio/Sound Designer

Back in 2015 Ross Newth’s son Josh asked if Ross could voice the part of ‘Narrator Man’ for a Three Little Pigs audio story he was creating for his daughter, Tess.

As one of Brisbane’s most accomplished voice talents, and a doting grandfather, Ross jumped at the chance.

Tess enjoyed listening to the recording so much Josh created four more audio stories and called them ‘Tess’s Tales’. However, it was very soon after that Ross’s grandson Olly came along, and he too began listening in. Tess’s Tales would ultimately morph into the family’s Fun Fables.

Word of the recordings grew. Josh began playing these stories to family and friends with overwhelming positive feedback. And, in 2020, Josh decided to release them as a podcast.

Each week the podcast expanded. Five episodes became ten, then ten became fifteen. And now, with hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide, there is a new Fun Fables episode released each week.

Fun Fables has now hit well over one million downloads. In fact the podcast is so popular it has its own website where visitors can access each episode and purchase special Fun Fables merchandise.

The stories are beautifully written and have a positive moral theme for the kids and Mums and Dads to think about. And there’s always plenty of fun and some modern-day twists on the old traditional stories.

From Ross’s point of view, the project has given him so much joy. He’s quite fond of his new moniker too: the ‘Narrator Man.

TALENT: Walter Williams

With Anzac Day coming up on April 25 Walter Williams reflects on one his proudest Voice Over projects of 2020, when he was asked by RSL Queensland to be the “Voice of God” (as it’s known in the business for live announcements) to commorate the 75th Anniversary of VP Day.

A five and a half minute short animation was projected onto Brisbane City Hall, in Adelaide Street.

Thousands of locals and tourists gathered in the cold of a Brisbane Winter in King George Square rugged up to watch the screening every night from Monday, August 10 to Friday, 14th from 6pm till 8pm every five minutes.

The presentation included a roll of honour for our World War 2 Veterans, plus archive footage and audio from the era.

It was quite a moving event.

As William Faulkner, wrote in “Requiem for a Nun”, “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”

Walter’s narration was recorded in his own Broadcast Quality Studio on a Neumann TLM 49 microphone with a digital signal chain of Solid State Logic 2 Plus audio Interface using 4K, Mogami Gold Cables, TwistedWave DAW and edited on iMac27, through Fostex Monitors. That’s tech-talk for great recording gear.

The final mix and post production was handled by NW Groups’ Spyglass who’ve been helping create unforgettable events around the world for as long as Walter has been talking to himself in padded booths.

BrisVO original, Michael Goldman was recently thrown a drop-everyting-instant-voiceover challenge. Unfortunately for him, he was on a Citycat cruising into Brisbane at the time. Lucky he’s a man that thrives under pressure. How do you think he did?

If you reckon he’s the voice for your next gig, get in contact. He’s got his own studio you know, or he could use yours. He definitely wont need to dial in from a boat.
