Brisbane agency Khemistry crafted a digital spot recently calling for candidates to apply for a new career with Australian Signals Directorate (ASD).

The ad needed an enthusiastic yet persuasive tone. Little wonder why Jen Mary got the call to provide the voiceover. Jen’s proven ability behind the mic has been in high demand of late.

Jen’s voiced ads for Village Roadshow, which were produced at Cutting Edge; she’s also done some radio for Air Canada, Halcyon Rise and Fisiocream out of ARN; she’s the voice behind “This is My Architecture, an Amazon web series produced by Folklore; she spruiked for Redland City Council through Edge Productions; and, she can be heard on Nova Radio pushing Gold Coast Tourism messages, and online championing Romeo Digital’s spot for Edge Early Learning which was recorded at 3P.

TALENT: Tom Murray

In between commercial voice sessions, talented BrisVO voice artist Tom Murray has been producing a podcast series for Ipswich Libraries.

The series, called “Stories for little Queenslanders’, involved Tom visiting a number of Ipswich primary schools to record grade 6 children reading selected stories written by local Queenslanders and published by the state library of Queensland.

The initiative is aimed at promoting literacy in children 0-5. It’s fun, rewarding and educational… and good for community.

You’ll hear Tom’s voice providing the introduction and signoff.

TALENT: Marcus Oborn

Marcus Oborn has his sights set on world domination. Recently he stepped into the booth for Warner Bros Movie World to help bring Hooray for Hollywood to tourists visiting the theme park and the Batman Legacy exhibition. Then he scored his first two international voice over jobs, in the one week, for TMGM and Swyftx. 

In July 2022, Marcus completed his training as a Patsy Rodenburg Associate.  Training directly with Patsy Rodenburg OBE in Europe, Marcus is now one of only fifty certified Associates in the world, and the second ever Australian to receive certification.

So when the Queensland Government asked their agency, Khemistry, to put together the advertising materials for the Taste Farm Life program it made perfect sense that LJ got the call.

TALENT: Todd MacDonald

Popular Aussie actor Todd MacDonald is a consummate professional with a script in hand. That’s why the experienced star of the stage and TV is widely sort to voice commercial announcements and videos. 

During iso times the resourceful performer built his own home sound studio at his inner-Brisbane Queenslander. He customed the booth using remnants of set materials saved from his days of running a local theatre company. 

Needless to say, when the people behind the walk through videos for Mazda’s luxurious CX-60 entrusted Todd with the lines for their production, he was very much at home.

TALENT: Damien Garvey

Accomplished Australian actor Damien Garvey has been a regular presence on television screens for more than 20 years.

The award winning artist might be best remembered for his roles on the ABC’s TV series Rake, and Harrow – or his earlier performances on Underbelly, Water Rats, Young Lions and Mcleod’s Daughters to name a few. Damien’s renowned versatility means he has the ability to play a wide variety of characters.

So it’s not surprising to learn the experienced performer is regularly cast to voice national TV commercials, like the new spots released for Volkswagen’s Amorok V6 Walkinshaw Series.

During ad breaks, you might also hear Damien as the voice behind the Oz Lotto commercials.

In recent times Damien has been keeping busy filming “Troppo” for the ABC, in the role of Roy Gilpin, a North Queensland CEO of a Deep Sea Mineral Mining Company. He was also cast in Peacock’s production of Joe Vs Carole – playing the dubious Doc Antle. 

Damien is currently appearing as The British East India Company’s, Director Crawley, in Disney’s “Nautilus”, a ten-part television series about the origin of Captain Nemo.

It’s been such an eventful year he says his head hurts. But the show must go on!

On the other side of the vocal spectrum Teresa’s entering her 6th year as the vibrant, youthful channel voice for Turner Entertainment’s Cartoon Network Boomerang TV, continuing work on some fun kids brands on the network like Nintendo Switch and Animal Crossing
 
And when she’s not voicing promos, Teresa can be heard on TV campaigns such as  Panasonic’s newest NanoEX Air conditioners, or  AusGov’s pregnancy guidelines …  and CSIRO’s newest innovation
 
Teresa continues this year as Brisbane’s Live Announcer for the Queensland Premier’s Awards and on-screen nationally she’s presenting Brand Power TVC’s and is also the new face and voice for FreeStyle Libre Australia and Asia. She also continues her work with the Asian Leadership Project, bringing her passion for diversity and inclusion onto the corporate stage at NAB headquarters. 
 
This year’s highlight though has been working on three new shoots with Tourism Queensland and Tourism Australia on their recent campaigns for beautiful Lady Musgrave Island, Whitsundays and Cape York. She was also thrilled to see the feature film Loveland released this month with work from an international collaboration through her instagram #voiceoverchallenge with voice actors from around the world to form an incredible soundscape with thanks to Folklore Sound.

The creative guns at Rumble Brisbane recently took to the airwaves with a string of levity laiden TVCs and online activity to launch the ‘buy now, pay later’ brand Gimmie.

The tongue in cheek spots were intentionally created to disrupt the market, so the creators needed a voice performance from someone with a great sense of humour and impeccable timing. Enter Digby Gillings. 

Digby’s been in high demand recently. You may have noticed him voicing a spot for Instant Scratch-It. While he’s often heard on Triple M doing the silly station IDs and random promos.
